Every level follows the CEFR, and from A2 up each band has an IELTS equivalent. Find the band your university asks for; the placement test shows where you start. The levels in between are your course.

Core literacy, basic handwriting, simple vocabulary and first critical-thinking skills.

IELTS equivalents are indicative. Your starting level is set by the free placement test, and we confirm your university's exact requirement before you enrol.

- Missed classes are not replaced — catch up with your instructor's guidance.

How long does the full programme take?+
Ten levels of one month each — about ten months end to end, though most students join partway up rather than starting at Level 1.
How intensive is it?+
Four hours of class a day, five days a week, face-to-face at our centre in Bukit Bintang — in the morning session (9:00 am – 1:00 pm) or the afternoon one (2:00 pm – 6:00 pm), whichever you choose. Each level is 20 class days, or 80 hours.
Can I study online?+
No — Academic English is face-to-face only. If you need to study online, the Premium English Programme runs face-to-face or online.
Do I need a placement test first?+
Yes, and it is free. About 25 minutes online, then a one-to-one consultation with a teacher confirms your CEFR level and sets your customised study plan — which is what fixes how long you study.
How do you work towards my target?+
We start by asking your goal — usually the IELTS band your university asks for. The placement test shows where you are, and we plan the levels between the two.
How big are the classes, and do I get a certificate?+
Five to ten students per group, and a certificate at the end of every level.
Can I take private classes?+
No — Academic English is taught in groups of five to ten, and every fee is a group fee.
Do you arrange the visa and accommodation?+
Yes. For international students we arrange the student pass and accommodation, so both are settled before you arrive.
Do I still need to take the IELTS?+
Yes. Universities look at your IELTS score, so you sit the test after the course. Academic English is how you get ready for it: aligned with IELTS and planned around the band your university asks for. Requirements differ by university and sometimes by faculty, so we confirm yours before you enrol.
What does Academic English cost?+
Ask us and we will quote your route. Each level runs one month across ten levels, but where you start depends on the placement test rather than the calendar — so most students pay for fewer levels than the full ladder, and a single figure would be misleading.
How is this different from the Premium English Programme?+
PEP is the flagship: five levels from A1 to C1, everyday and academic English together, face-to-face or online. Academic English is academic-only, face-to-face only and aligned with IELTS — the more direct route if your goal is a university place.
Can I take the IELTS after Academic English?+
Yes. If you would like to be confident of scoring well, join our Exam Preparation programme — it is built around the test itself rather than the language behind it.
Can I sit a different exam afterwards as well?+
Academic English prepares you for the IELTS specifically. If you need TOEFL, MUET or PTE instead, those have their own exam-preparation tracks — useful if you may apply outside Malaysia later, where a recognised programme does not travel the way a test score does.
