You know that magical moment when you’re out at a restaurant, just enjoying some time with family, and suddenly a song comes on that instantly lifts your mood? That happened to me recently, and not just with any song, but with the song that started it all for me—Selena Gomez’s “Love You Like a Love Song.” It was like the universe was giving me a little reminder of the journey that song has taken me on, and I was flooded with memories and excitement!

I can still remember the first time I heard “Love You Like a Love Song.” There was something about Selena’s voice, the way she sang, the rhythm—it just pulled me in. At that time, I didn’t really speak English fluently, but it was her music that sparked something inside me. I didn’t just want to listen to the song; I wanted to understand it. I found myself drawn to English in a way I never had been before, and it was because of Selena Gomez.

There’s something truly special about the way she expresses herself. It’s not just about the lyrics or the melody; it’s her entire vibe. The way she carries herself, how she communicates—it feels real and genuine. She’s not like other singers. Selena has this unique charm, and it made me want to connect with the language she was singing in. And I did!

After hearing “Love You Like a Love Song,” I made it my mission to dive into her lyrics, understand every word, and learn the meaning behind them. I’d spend hours on YouTube, replaying the music video, jotting down every lyric and repeating them until I got it right. It wasn’t just a song anymore; it became a doorway to something bigger—my love for English. I found myself discovering new words, building my vocabulary, and getting excited to speak and understand the language more fluently.

Selena’s music didn’t just help me learn words; it helped me gain confidence. Speaking English can be intimidating, but when you feel a connection to the language, it becomes less scary and more like an adventure. I would practice the lyrics, over and over, and that slowly built my confidence to start speaking in English, not just singing.

So, sitting there in that restaurant, hearing “Love You Like a Love Song” again felt like a full-circle moment. From those early days of scribbling down lyrics to now confidently understanding and using English in my everyday life, it all started with that song and my love for Selena Gomez’s music. I’m so thankful for the inspiration she’s given me, and I’ll always have a soft spot for “Love You Like a Love Song” because, in so many ways, it’s the track that started everything for me.

If you ever feel like learning a new language is tough, find something you’re passionate about—something or someone that truly inspires you—and I promise it’ll make the journey so much more fun!

Forever loving you like a love song, English!
